Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head to the area of Melbourne Beach. You can access the Maritime Hammock Sanctuary directly via S Hwy A1A. From the central Space Coast region, take FL-528 E towards Cocoa Beach, then merge onto US-1 S. Follow US-1 S for approximately 15 miles until you reach the junction with FL-404 E. Take FL-404 E until it merges onto S Hwy A1A. Continue south on S Hwy A1A for about 8 miles until you reach the sanctuary at 6200 S Hwy A1A, Melbourne Beach, FL 32951. There is no entrance fee for the sanctuary, and parking is available on-site.

• Public Transportation

  For those utilizing public transportation, you will first need to take a bus to get to the general vicinity of Melbourne Beach. Start by taking the Space Coast Area Transit bus route that connects to the Melbourne area (Route 1 or Route 8). Once you arrive at a suitable stop near Melbourne Beach, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to cover the remaining distance. The sanctuary is located about 3 miles from the nearest bus stop, so a taxi or rideshare will be necessary. Be prepared for a fare that may range from $10 to $15 for this ride.

• Bike

  If you're feeling adventurous and have access to a bicycle, you can bike to Maritime Hammock Sanctuary. From Melbourne Beach, start by heading south on S Hwy A1A. The sanctuary is approximately 2 miles south of the main Melbourne Beach area. The route is scenic, following the coastline. Ensure you have a bike lock as you will want to secure your bike while you enjoy the sanctuary.
