Discover more about Vulcania

Vulcania, the 'European Park of Volcanism,' is an immersive experience into the world of volcanoes, natural phenomena, and the Earth's place in the solar system. Situated in Saint-Ours-les-Roches, in the heart of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park, the park is approximately 15 kilometers northwest of Clermont-Ferrand. Created to make science accessible and engaging for all ages, Vulcania offers a range of attractions, including 5D films, moving platforms, interactive circuits, and a planetarium, which is the largest in France. Visitors can explore exhibits on volcanology, natural phenomena, and space, and enjoy shows and workshops. Thrill-seekers can experience the Namazu roller coaster, which simulates the power of earthquakes. For a more relaxed experience, the park provides outdoor spaces for picnics and leisurely strolls. Vulcania is open from late March to early November, with varying opening hours depending on the season. The park was the vision of French volcanologists Katia and Maurice Krafft, who aimed to educate the public about natural phenomena in a fun and interactive way. The park's design incorporates research facilities, IMAX theaters, and greenhouses, highlighting the positive effects of volcanism. In 2025, Vulcania is introducing new experiences, including an interactive area called 'Terre de volcans: l'immersion volcanique,' a film about the Krafft couple, a new version of 'Terre en colère,' and a sound and light show.
