Getting There

  • Driving

    From Clermont-Ferrand, take the D2089 towards Aydat. Then, follow the D5 to Château de Montlosier. Note that the main parking at Château de Montlosier is closed due to construction until Spring 2027. Alternative parking is available at Puy de la Vache, La Cassière, or Col de la Ventouse, depending on which area of the park you plan to visit. Parking is free.

  • Public Transport

    Several SNCF train stations are located near the Parc des Volcans d'Auvergne, including Volvic, Riom-Châtel-Guyon, and Clermont-Ferrand. From Clermont-Ferrand, a navette (shuttle) runs to the foot of Puy-de-Dôme (free on weekends, hourly from April to October). From there, you can hike or take the Panoramique des Dômes cogwheel train to the summit. Train fares vary depending on the origin and destination. The shuttle from Clermont-Ferrand to Puy-de-Dôme is free on weekends.
