Walking

From the Palais des Papes, exit towards Rue des Teinturiers and follow the signs to Jardin des Doms. The walk takes about 10 minutes and offers scenic views. Alternatively, ascend the Escalier Sainte Anne (St. Anne's Stairs) behind the Palais des Papes. Access is also available from the Rhône quayside.

Rising 30 meters above the Rhône, the garden provides a stunning panoramic view of the city, the Rhône Valley, and Mont Ventoux.Originally a strategic point, the Rocher des Doms transformed into a public park in the 19th century. Today, visitors can stroll through manicured gardens, relax by the pond, and admire statues of local figures like Jean Althen and Félix Gras. The Venus aux Hirondelles (Venus With Swallows) sculpture is a particular point of interest. The park also features a café, playground, and picnic areas, making it a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.Currently (July 2025), the town is undertaking major restoration work on the garden, expected to continue until June 2027. During this period, access is limited to the belvedere, where visitors can still enjoy the panoramic views. Despite the ongoing work, Jardin des Doms remains a must-see for its historical significance and breathtaking scenery.
