Discover more about Point de Vue direction Pont d'Avignon

The Point de Vue direction Pont d'Avignon is a must-visit observation deck that provides sweeping views of Avignon and its iconic landmarks. Nestled along the Rhône River, this spot offers a perfect vantage point for capturing the Pont Saint-Bénézet (Pont d'Avignon) and the Palais des Papes. The surrounding landscape, with its greenery and hills, creates a backdrop that changes with the seasons. Visitors can enjoy the deck at any time of day; however, sunrise and sunset offer magical moments that illuminate the cityscape in hues of gold and pink. The area is steeped in history, with the nearby bridge and palace telling tales of Avignon's past. The bridge, built from the 12th century, was once the only crossing over the Rhône between Lyon and the Mediterranean. The bridge's construction is attributed to Bénézet, a shepherd who, according to legend, was divinely inspired to build it. Originally, the bridge had 22 arches, but due to conflicts and floods, only four remain. The panoramic view allows one to appreciate the Rhone River and its surrounding areas. The fresh air and open space make it a relaxing place to take a break.
