It was renamed Place de la Victoire in 1918 to commemorate France's victory at the end of World War I.The square is punctuated by several major points of interest. Since 2005, the square has been adorned with a spectacular 16-meter obelisk made of red marble and two large bronze turtles, works by Czech artist Ivan Theimer.
