Car
If you are driving, head to Chamonix, which is well-connected by road. From the center of Chamonix, follow the signs for 'Montenvers' which will take you to the Montenvers Railway station. You can park your car in the designated parking areas near the station. Please note that parking may incur a fee, typically around €5-€10 for the day.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transport, take a train to Chamonix Mont-Blanc station. From there, walk to the Montenvers Railway station, which is about a 20-minute stroll through the charming streets of Chamonix. Alternatively, you can take a local bus that goes directly to the Montenvers station. The bus ride typically costs around €2-€3.
Montenvers Railway
Once you reach the Montenvers Railway station, purchase a ticket for the cog railway that takes you up to Montenvers. The round trip costs approximately €30 for adults and €15 for children. The train ride offers stunning views of the Mer de Glace glacier and takes about 20 minutes to reach the top.
Walking
After arriving at Montenvers, follow the signs leading to the Grotte de glace. There is a well-maintained path, and it takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the entrance of the ice cave. Be prepared for some stairs and uneven terrain, and wear comfortable footwear.
