Walking
If you are starting from the city center of La Rochelle, head east on Rue de la Chaîne towards the Vieux Port. Continue walking straight until you reach the Rue de la Fausse Monnaie, then turn left. Follow this street until you reach Place de la Caille. From there, turn right into Rue du Cormorant and continue straight until you reach Avenue de la Porte Royale. Turn left and walk straight for about 15 minutes until you see Royal Gate on your right.

From the central bus station at Place de Verdun, take bus line L3 towards Les Minimes. You will need to get off at the stop 'Porte Royale'. After disembarking, head south on Rue de la Porte Royale, and you will find Royal Gate just a short 5-minute walk ahead.

If you are near the La Rochelle Aquarium, exit the aquarium and head northeast towards the sea. Walk along the promenade (Avenue de la République) until you reach the intersection with Avenue de la Porte Royale. Turn left and walk straight for about 10 minutes until you arrive at Royal Gate, which will be on your left.
