Discover more about Golf Meribel

Golf Meribel, a true gem nestled in the French Alps, offers an unparalleled golfing experience set against the backdrop of stunning mountain vistas. Established in 1966, it proudly stands as one of the highest golf courses in Europe, captivating both seasoned professionals and enthusiastic amateurs with its unique charm and challenging layout. The story of Golf Meribel began with Peter Lindsay, a visionary Scotsman who founded the Méribel resort in 1938. Lindsay, an avid golfer with a deep love for the mountains, sought to create a destination that would be as appealing in the summer as it was during the winter months. His dream materialized with the creation of a golf course initially featuring just four holes, strategically positioned near the altiport. Over the next four decades, the course underwent continuous development and refinement, shaped by renowned golf architects such as Géry Watine, Thierry Sprecher, and Hugues Lambert. Today, Golf Meribel spans 35 hectares, boasting an 18-hole, par-71 course stretching 5,538 meters. Each hole presents golfers with breathtaking panoramas that evolve with the changing seasons. The course's design takes full advantage of the natural hilly terrain, incorporating numerous natural and sporting features that demand technical precision and strategic play. Golfers navigate wooded slopes, with the iconic Dent de Burgin mountain serving as a majestic backdrop. The course meanders along the Altiport, from Rhodos to Chantemouche, with an elevation change of over 250 meters, ranging from 1,565m to 1,850m. Beyond the stunning scenery, the altitude itself adds an extra dimension to the game. Golfers often find that their ball travels further than at sea level, providing a unique advantage and a thrilling experience. The course is open to non-members, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all who wish to test their skills amidst the alpine splendor. Green fees vary depending on the season, with reductions available for couples, young adults, and seniors. Buggies, trolleys, and clubs are available for hire at the clubhouse, ensuring that visitors have everything they need for a memorable round. Golf Meribel also offers excellent practice facilities, including a large putting green, a chipping green, a driving range with 40 stations (10 of which are covered), and a bunker. Golf lessons are available in English from the course pro Didier Audin and his team. Competitions are held throughout the summer and are open to all, with lunch at the ninth hole and prizes for all levels. The Golf Meribel experience extends beyond the course itself. The friendly clubhouse provides a welcoming space to relax and socialize, while the surrounding area offers a wealth of activities and attractions. Visitors can explore the charming village of Meribel, indulge in delicious Savoyard cuisine, or venture into the mountains for hiking, mountain biking, and other outdoor adventures. Whether you're a seasoned golfer seeking a challenging and unforgettable round or a beginner looking to experience the beauty of the sport in a breathtaking setting, Golf Meribel promises an exceptional alpine escape. The combination of stunning scenery, challenging play, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a truly unique and memorable destination. In winter, the course transforms back into ski slopes, seamlessly integrating with the renowned Three Valleys ski area. This dual identity as a summer golf haven and a winter ski paradise underscores Meribel's appeal as a year-round destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Golf Meribel isn't just a golf course; it's an experience that blends sport, nature, and the captivating charm of the French Alps. It's a place where memories are made, challenges are embraced, and the beauty of the mountains is always in view.
