From Carcassonne, take the D118 north towards Mazamet. After approximately 15 km, turn left onto the D101 towards Lastours. Follow the D101 for about 5 km to reach the village. Upon entering Lastours, follow signs for the 'Châteaux de Lastours'. There is a free parking area located at the entrance to the village. From the parking area, it's a short walk to the visitor center and the start of the trail leading to the castles.

While there isn't a direct bus route to the Châteaux de Lastours, you can take a bus from Carcassonne to a nearby town like Villegly and then take a taxi to Lastours. Check local bus schedules for routes to Villegly. A taxi from Villegly to Lastours will cost approximately €20-€30. Alternatively, during peak season, some tourist buses may offer direct transportation to Lastours from Carcassonne. In this case, a round-trip ticket would cost approximately €15-€25.

From the village center of Lastours, follow the marked trail uphill towards the Châteaux de Lastours. The walk is approximately 1 km and takes around 30-45 minutes, depending on your fitness level. The path is well-maintained but can be steep in some sections. Ensure you have appropriate footwear. There are signs along the way to guide you. The trail begins near the former textile mill.
