The Abbey Ruins, also known as the Abbey of Boschaud, stand as a testament to Cistercian monastic life in the Dordogne region of France. Founded in the 12th century, the abbey's name comes from its location, 'Bosco Cavo,' meaning wooded valley. Monks from Notre-Dame-de-Ré Abbey established it, adhering to the strict principles of the Cistercian order.Partially destroyed during the Wars of Religion in the 16th century, the ruins still showcase the architectural style typical of the Périgord. Rediscovered in the 19th century, visitors can admire the remains of a single vaulted nave.
