Getting There

• Car Rental

  If you're traveling by car, begin your journey in Vaitape, the main town of Bora Bora. From Vaitape, head south on Route de Vaitape towards Anau. Continue straight on this road for approximately 12 kilometers (about 25 minutes). Once you reach the intersection near Anau, take the turn onto Unnamed Road. Follow this road for about 5 minutes until you reach Mataorio Bay Point, which will be on your right. Parking may be limited, so be prepared to park along the road.

• Public Bus

  If you're using public transportation, take the local bus (Le Truck) from Vaitape. Look for the bus heading towards Anau. The bus fare is approximately 300 XPF (around $3 USD). After about 30 minutes, disembark at the Anau stop. From there, you’ll need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers (about 20 minutes) to reach Mataorio Bay Point. Head south on Route de Vaitape, then take a right onto Unnamed Road where the bay point is located.

• Bicycle Rental

  For a more adventurous option, rent a bicycle in Vaitape. Follow the same route as if you were driving: head south on Route de Vaitape towards Anau. Riding at a leisurely pace, it should take about 45 minutes to reach Mataorio Bay Point. Keep an eye out for local traffic and enjoy the scenery along the way. Ensure to wear a helmet and take water with you.

• Taxi

  If preferred, you can take a taxi from Vaitape directly to Mataorio Bay Point. This option is more expensive, typically costing around 3000 to 4000 XPF (approximately $30 to $40 USD) depending on the time of day and traffic. The taxi ride will take about 15-20 minutes. Be sure to agree on a fare before starting your journey.
