Getting There

Public Bus
Start your journey at the central bus station in Papeete, located near the waterfront. Look for the bus line that travels towards Taravao; typically, buses headed to the east will take you in the right direction. The bus stop is well-marked and you can ask locals for assistance if needed. The bus ride to Taravao will take approximately 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Taravao, you must get off at the main bus stop in the town center.

From the Taravao bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 2 kilometers to reach Belvédère de Taravao. Head south down Route D, which is the main road. Stay on the left side for safety as you walk. After about 1.5 kilometers, you will reach the intersection where you turn left onto an unnamed road. Continue walking for another 500 meters, following the signs for Belvédère de Taravao. The observation deck will be on your right-hand side, and you'll see a small area to park bicycles if you have one.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Papeete before heading to Taravao. Follow the same route as the public bus: take the bus to Taravao and then cycle from the bus stop.
