If you are driving from Papeete, take Route de la Côte (N1) heading southeast. Continue on this road for about 30 km until you reach Taravao. As you approach Taravao, look for signs directing you towards the 'Plateau de Taravao'. You will need to turn onto an unnamed road which is indicated by the GPS coordinates 6Q62+5JG. After turning, continue along the road for approximately 5 km until you reach the plateau area where you can start your hiking experience.

To reach Randonnée plateau de Taravao using public transport, begin your journey at Papeete's main bus station. Take bus number 20, which travels towards Taravao. The journey will take around 45 minutes. Ask the driver to let you know when you reach Taravao. Once you arrive in Taravao, you will need to walk approximately 2 km towards the unnamed road at the coordinates 6Q62+5JG. Look for local signs that will guide you towards the plateau area.
