Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
O2 Fakarava is located in Rotoava village, the main settlement on the atoll. From most accommodations in the village, the dive center is easily accessible by foot. Simply follow the main road along the lagoon; the center is well-signposted. The walk offers a chance to soak in the laid-back island atmosphere.
Bicycle
Many accommodations, including Havaiki Lodge, offer complimentary bicycles for guests. Cycling is a popular way to get around Fakarava. From the airport, cycle south along the main road towards Rotoava. O2 Fakarava will be on your left, a short distance from the village center. Remember to cycle carefully and be mindful of other traffic. Bike rentals are also available at Fakarava Yacht Services for approximately 3,000 XPF per half-day.
Airport Transfer
Most accommodations offer airport transfers from Fakarava Airport (FAV). These are typically arranged in advance and may be included in your accommodation package. The transfer usually involves a 'truck' (a traditional Polynesian bus) or a private vehicle. The journey to O2 Fakarava from the airport is approximately 2.5 miles. Confirm the cost with your accommodation provider when booking.
