Getting there

Public Transport

From Telavi, take a marshrutka (minibus) towards Gurjaani. At the Gurjaani bus station, transfer to another marshrutka heading to Lemshveniera. Ask the driver to drop you off at the closest stop to Natlismtsemeli Monastery; from there, follow local signs for a short walk to the monastery. The total cost is approximately 5-10 GEL.

Car

From Telavi, drive south on the E117 road towards Gurjaani. After about 20 kilometers, exit towards Lemshveniera and follow local signs to Natlismtsemeli Monastery. Parking is available near the monastery gates. Note that the road to the monastery may require a reliable off-road vehicle. There are no tolls.

The Natlismtsemeli Monastery, part of the David Gareja complex, is located 12 km west of David's Lavra in the Kakheti region. Founded in the 6th century by Luciane, a disciple of St. David Gareji, the monastery has withstood numerous invasions, टेस्टaments to the enduring spirit of monastic life.The monastery complex includes numerous cave temples and a central church that stands out for its height. A smaller church is located south of the main one, accessible via a rock climb. The interiors of the churches feature painted decorations dating back to the 12th century, blending austerity with artistic expression. The iconography in the main church dates to the 18th century.Today, Natlismtsemeli Monastery is a functioning monastery and a popular tourist attraction, offering a glimpse into Georgia's Christian heritage. Visitors can explore the cave temples, admire the architecture, and experience the tranquility of this secluded sanctuary.
