Car
If you're driving, start from the city of Telavi, which is a central hub in Kakheti. Head southwest on E117 (also known as the Telavi-Gurjaani road) for about 5 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to Ikalto Monastery. Turn left onto Rd to Iqalto Academy and continue for approximately 2 kilometers. The monastery will be on your right. There is typically no entrance fee, but be mindful of parking regulations.
Public Transportation
To reach Ikalto Monastery using public transportation, first, take a marshrutka (shared taxi) from Telavi to Ikalto. Marshrutkas leave from the main bus station in Telavi and cost around 1 GEL (Georgian Lari). The journey takes about 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the Ikalto stop, it’s a short walk of about 1 kilometer to the monastery. Follow the signs towards Rd to Iqalto Academy. Be sure to check the return schedule for marshrutkas to ensure you can get back to Telavi.
