Car
If you're traveling by car from any location in Kakheti, start by heading towards the town of Telavi. From Telavi, take the main road (E117) toward Kutaisi. After approximately 30 kilometers, look for signs indicating Motsameta. Exit onto the road leading to Motsameta. Continue driving for about 10 minutes until you see the signs for Gelati Monastery. Follow the road signs that guide you directly to the monastery. There is parking available near the entrance.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a marshrutka (minibus) from Telavi to Kutaisi. The marshrutka will leave from the main bus station in Telavi. Once you arrive in Kutaisi, transfer to a marshrutka heading to Motsameta. These marshrutkas frequently depart from the central bus station in Kutaisi. After arriving in Motsameta, ask locals for directions to Gelati Monastery, which is a short walk away. Be prepared for a small fee for the marshrutka rides, typically around 10-15 GEL.
