If you are driving, start from the village of Zhinvali. From Zhinvali, take the road towards Barisakho. The road will lead you through stunning mountainous scenery. After approximately 12 km, you will reach Barisakho. Continue on this road for another 10 km until you reach the Datvisjvari Pass. The best time to visit is during the summer months when the roads are more accessible. Be aware that some parts of the road may be unpaved and require careful driving.

From Tbilisi, you can take a marshrutka (minibus) to Stepantsminda. Once you arrive in Stepantsminda, you will need to arrange a taxi or find a local tour operator that offers trips to Datvisjvari Pass. The taxi ride from Stepantsminda to Datvisjvari Pass will take about 30-40 minutes and typically costs around 30-50 GEL. Ensure you negotiate the fare beforehand. It's advisable to arrange for the taxi to wait for you at Datvisjvari Pass for your return trip.
