Car
From Mtskheta, head south on the A404 road towards Aspindza. Continue on the A404 for about 60 km (approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes). Follow the signs to Vardzia and Khertvisi Fortress. As you approach the fortress, you will see it perched atop a cliff. There is parking available near the entrance.
Public Transportation
Take a marshrutka (minibus) from Mtskheta to Aspindza. Marshrutkas leave from the central bus station in Mtskheta. The journey to Aspindza takes about 1 hour and costs around 5 GEL. Once in Aspindza, you can either take a taxi to Khertvisi Fortress (approximately 10 minutes drive) or walk the remaining 3 km (about 45 minutes on foot). Taxis should cost around 10 GEL.
Walking
If you're near Aspindza and choose to walk, follow the road from Aspindza towards Khertvisi. The walk is approximately 3 km and takes about 45 minutes. The path will take you past scenic vistas of the surrounding landscape, leading you directly to Khertvisi Fortress.
