Car
From Rabati Castle, head northeast on the main road (Tbilisi - Batumi highway, E60) for approximately 30 kilometers. Follow the signs for Vardzia. You will pass through the small town of Aspindza. Once you see the sign for Vardzia, take the exit and follow the narrow road leading to the site. Parking is available near the entrance, and there is usually no fee for parking.
Public Transportation
To reach Vardzia via public transportation, you can take a minibus (marshrutka) from the central bus station in Akhaltsikhe, which is about 15 kilometers from Rabati Castle. First, from Rabati Castle, take a local taxi or a short walk to the bus station in Akhaltsikhe. Once there, look for a marshrutka heading to Vardzia. The journey will take about 30-40 minutes. Keep in mind that the marshrutka service may not run frequently, so check the schedule ahead of time. The fare is typically around 2-3 GEL. After arriving at Vardzia, you will need to walk a short distance to the entrance.
