Instra Waterfall: A Hidden Gem in the Georgian Mountains

The trail head to Instra Waterfall serves as the gateway to one of Georgia's hidden natural wonders. Located near the village of Chkvaleri in the Tsalenjikha Municipality, the waterfall is a majestic sight, cascading from a height of 26 meters (approximately 85 feet) into the Intsra Canyon. The journey to Instra Waterfall begins from Chkvaleri village, following a circular path that extends for about 7.5 km (approximately 4.7 miles) and takes about 2-3 hours to complete. The trail initially follows a dirt road, leading into a forested valley with clear signage. The path is relatively straightforward, with the final hundred meters involving a steeper slope and large boulders. As you approach the waterfall, the sounds of cascading water grow louder, and the air becomes cooler and fresher. The waterfall itself is enveloped in verdant foliage and moss-covered rocks. The turquoise pool at the base of the falls is a popular spot for a refreshing plunge. Another natural wonder nearby is the Intsra cave, with a water spring that is channelled through pipes along the path, serving as a guide.
