If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to Ilsenburg, which is approximately 25 km northeast of the city of Wernigerode. From Wernigerode, take the B244 road towards Ilsenburg. Once in Ilsenburg, follow signs for Jagdweg. You will find parking options along Jagdweg, which is the street leading to the Obere Ilsefälle. The coordinates for parking are approximately 51.8294395 latitude and 10.6348428 longitude. The walk to the falls is well marked and takes about 15 minutes.

Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, take a train to the Ilsenburg station. Trains frequently run from major cities like Magdeburg and Wernigerode. Upon arrival at Ilsenburg station, exit the station and head towards the bus stop located across the street. Take bus number 270 towards 'Wernigerode' or any bus that stops at 'Jagdweg.' The bus ride will take around 15 minutes. Disembark at the 'Jagdweg' stop, and follow the signs leading to Obere Ilsefälle, which is a 10-minute walk from the bus stop.

Walking

If you are already in the surrounding area, or if you prefer a longer hike, you can walk from the center of Ilsenburg. Head northeast along the main road (B244) and follow the signs toward Jagdweg. The walk is approximately 3 km and will take around 40 minutes. As you walk, enjoy the scenic views of the Harz mountains.
