    Discover more about Ruffinihaus

The Ruffinihaus is a distinctive building complex located on the Rindermarkt in Munich's Old Town. Constructed between 1903 and 1905 by Gabriel von Seidl, it comprises three separate buildings designed to evoke the appearance of traditional townhouses from the 17th and 18th centuries. The buildings stand on the original site of the Ruffiniturm, part of Munich's first city wall, which was named after Johann Baptista Ruffini. The architecture features richly adorned facades with frescoes and intricate details. Each of the three buildings has its own unique character, contributing to the overall charm of the complex. The Bavarian Office of Monument Preservation has described the building as an example of romantic-native mood architecture. Severely damaged during World War II, the Ruffinihaus was reconstructed with some modifications in the 1950s. A comprehensive renovation took place from 2018 to 2020. Today, the Ruffinihaus is owned by the city of Munich and houses a mix of retail shops on the ground floor and municipal offices above, including the Tourism Office. The building also hosts a Creative Hub, providing space for entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative sectors.
