Museum Europäischer Kulturen: Exploring European Cultural Diversity

The Museum Europäischer Kulturen (MEK) offers a fascinating exploration of European culture and everyday life. Founded in 1999 through the merger of the Museum für Volkskunde and the Europe Department of the Museum für Völkerkunde, it examines the evolution of European societies from the 18th century to today. The museum's collection comprises around 285,000 objects, including folk costumes, textiles, religious artifacts, and household items. The permanent exhibition, “Cultural Contacts – Living in Europe,” presents cross-sections of the museum's holdings, highlighting cultural exchange and diversity.
