Urban Nation: Museum for Urban Contemporary Art

Urban Nation is a unique museum in Berlin dedicated to showcasing and preserving urban contemporary art. Opened in September 2017, the museum emerged from the Urban Nation network, an initiative that since 2013 has been bringing national and international artists to Berlin to creatively design urban spaces. Located in a converted Wilhelminian-style building in the Schöneberg district, the museum itself is a work of art, with a constantly evolving facade featuring murals by renowned street artists. The museum's mission is to provide a platform for urban art, foster young talent, and make this art form accessible to a broad audience. The interior features a dynamic exhibition space with rotating displays of graffiti, murals, paintings, sculptures, and installations. A unique feature is the 'highline,' an internal walkway that allows visitors to view the artworks from different perspectives. The museum also houses the Martha Cooper Library, named after the famous street art photographer, and offers artist residencies. Urban Nation is more than just a museum; it's a cultural hub that actively engages with the local community through workshops and educational programs.
