Travel Guide to Elefantentor (Zoo Berlin)

Getting There

• Car

  From any location in Brandenburg, get onto the A10 (Berliner Ring) highway. Depending on your starting point, you will likely take the A10 towards Berlin. Then, merge onto the A115 towards Berlin-Zehlendorf. Continue on the A115 for approximately 15 km. Take the exit towards Avus/Zehlendorf and merge onto the A100 (Berliner Ring). Follow the A100 for about 10 km, then take the exit for Bundesstraße 1 (B1) towards Stadtmitte. Continue on B1 which will lead you towards Budapester Straße. Follow the signs for Zoo Berlin. Once you reach Budapester Straße, look for parking nearby (note that parking fees may apply), and the Elefantentor entrance will be located at the zoo entrance.

• Public Transportation - Train and Bus

  If you prefer public transportation, start by taking a regional train (RE) or S-Bahn from any major station in Brandenburg to Berlin Hauptbahnhof (main station). The S-Bahn S3, S5, S7, or S9 will get you there. Once at Berlin Hauptbahnhof, transfer to the U-Bahn (subway) line U55 towards Brandenburger Tor. Get off at the Brandenburger Tor station and transfer to bus line 100 or 200. Take bus 100 or 200 towards Zoologischer Garten. The bus will take you directly to the Zoologischer Garten stop, which is right by the Elefantentor entrance. Make sure to purchase a ticket before boarding; tickets can be bought at machines in the train station. A single ticket within Berlin costs approximately €3.40.

• Public Transportation - Tram and Bus

  Alternatively, you could take a tram from various points in Brandenburg to the nearest S-Bahn or U-Bahn station, then follow the train directions to reach Berlin. For example, if you are near Potsdam, take tram line 91 to S-Bahn station S Potsdam, then take the S7 towards Berlin. Transfer at Berlin Hauptbahnhof to U-Bahn line U55, and then follow the bus instructions from there. Remember, you need a valid ticket for your entire journey. A single ticket costs about €3.40.
