From Essen Hauptbahnhof (main train station), take the S-Bahn line S1 towards Solingen. This train runs frequently, and you can find the platform signs in the station. After approximately 25 minutes, get off at Duisburg Hauptbahnhof (Duisburg main station). Once you arrive at Duisburg Hauptbahnhof, exit the station and head towards the bus terminal. Look for bus number 903 and board it, heading towards 'Duisburg Burgplatz'. After about 10 minutes, get off at the 'Burgplatz' stop. From there, you will see Mercatorbrunnen (the fountain) situated at Burgpl. 19, just a short walk away.
Walking
If you prefer to walk from Duisburg Hauptbahnhof, exit the train station and head south towards Königstraße. Turn left onto Königstraße and continue straight for about 1 kilometer. You will pass various shops and restaurants along the way. After reaching the intersection with Friedrich-Wilhelm-Straße, turn right. Continue straight until you reach Burgplatz, where Mercatorbrunnen is located at Burgpl. 19. This walk will take approximately 15-20 minutes.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct option, you can take a taxi from Essen to Mercatorbrunnen in Duisburg. Taxis are available at Essen Hauptbahnhof. Simply tell the driver to take you to Burgpl. 19, Duisburg. The journey should take around 25-30 minutes depending on traffic.
