Getting There

  • Public Transportation

    From Essen Hauptbahnhof (main train station), take the S1 train towards Dortmund. It takes about 35 minutes. Get off at Dortmund Hauptbahnhof. Once at Dortmund Hauptbahnhof, exit the station and head towards the main square, 'Platz der Alten Synagoge.' From there, walk south along 'Kaiserstraße' for about 5 minutes until you reach 'Schwarze-Brüder-Straße.' Turn right onto 'Schwarze-Brüder-Straße,' and you will find Platz von Hiroshima / Mutter Hiroshim on your left.

  • Walking

    If you are already in the city center of Essen, you can walk to the Essen Hauptbahnhof and follow the previous instructions to take the S1 train to Dortmund. Alternatively, if you prefer walking, it is approximately 10 kilometers to Dortmund. Head west towards 'Gladbecker Str.' and follow the signs towards the B227 highway until you reach Dortmund. This walk may take around 2 hours, so be prepared with comfortable shoes.
