Walking
From the Freiburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station), exit towards the city center. Walk straight along the Kaiser-Joseph-Straße, which is a pedestrian street. Continue walking for about 1 km until you reach the intersection with Bertoldsbrunnen, a large fountain in the center of the city. From there, turn left onto the Schlossbergring road, which leads up to the Schlossberg hill. Follow the road until you see the signs for the Aussichtsturm (view tower). The trail will become steeper as you approach the tower, and you will need to climb approximately 176 stairs to reach the top.
Public Transport
From Freiburg Hauptbahnhof, take tram line 1 in the direction of 'Littenweiler'. Get off at the 'Schlossberg' stop, which is the closest stop to the base of the hill. From the tram stop, follow the signs leading to the Schlossberg. You will find a marked path that will take you to the Aussichtsturm. Be prepared for a steep hike up, and remember that there are stairs leading to the top of the tower.
