Getting There

  • Walking

    If you're starting from the Necker River, head towards the Old Bridge (Alte Brücke). Cross the bridge and take a right onto Untere Straße. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Hauptstraße. Turn left onto Hauptstraße. Walk along Hauptstraße until you see the large square (Marktplatz) in front of you with the Church of the Holy Spirit (Heiliggeistkirche) on your right. From here, continue to the end of Hauptstraße, then take a right onto Schlosshof. Scheffelterrasse is located at the end of this street. The entire walk should take approximately 15-20 minutes.

  • Funicular Railway

    If you prefer a scenic route, you can take the Heidelberg funicular railway (Bergbahn) from the Kornmarkt station. Head to the Kornmarkt, which is a short walk from the Marktplatz. The funicular takes you up to the Heidelberg Castle. Once you reach the top, follow the signs towards Scheffelterrasse. It is a short walk from the castle entrance, and you will enjoy picturesque views along the way. Note that tickets for the funicular cost around €8 for a round trip.
