Getting There

• Public Transport

  From Heidelberg, head to the Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (main train station). You can walk there from the city center; it's about a 15-minute walk. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Schwetzingen. Trains to Schwetzingen run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Upon arrival at Schwetzingen station, exit the station and head straight along Bahnhofstraße. Continue until you reach the main square, where you'll find local signs guiding you to the Schwetzingen Palace and gardens.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to bike, rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Heidelberg. From the city center, take the Hauptstraße towards the north, then turn onto the cycle path that leads to Schwetzingen. The bike path is well-marked and takes you through beautiful countryside. The distance is approximately 12 kilometers and should take about 30-45 minutes. Once you arrive in Schwetzingen, follow signs to Schwetzingen Palace.

• Walking

  For those who enjoy walking, you can take a scenic route from Heidelberg to Schwetzingen. Start from the Old Bridge (Alte Brücke) and walk towards the north along the banks of the Neckar River. After about 30 minutes, you will reach the outskirts of Schwetzingen. Continue walking towards the city center, following the signs to Schwetzingen Palace. The total walking distance is around 12 kilometers, which may take about 2.5 to 3 hours. Enjoy the views along the way!
