Michael was an incredible guide for our day trip! It was more than enough time in these smaller cities, and he gave us lots of options to make sure we made the most of the time. He was very knowledgable about what we saw and was able to answer all our questions. Highly recommend this day trip!

Heidelberg and Rothenburg Private Day Trip from Frankfurt

We had a good time

Our original tour with another company was cancelled due to us being the only ones who booked, so we booked this kind of last minute. Was nice to just get a private tour so we didn’t have to wait at the pace of others and get to see what we wanted. It is a long day and we ended up sleeping in the van for part of the ride, lol. We had a great time visiting Heidelberg castle and the famous bridge as well as the town of Rothenberg and had some free time as well. The St. Jacob’s church was beautiful on the inside. Due to the time it takes to travel to each you don’t get a super long time at each place but it a decent amount to see a good chunk if you research ahead of time what you are wanting to find. Hotel pickup/dropoff was very nice as well and worth it for us. Be sure to buy a schneeballen snack in Rothenberg if you want a bit of a traditional treat there. Nice little snack and water provided as well. Only complaint was the Hellegeistkirche was actually locked when we visited. We literally tried to get in all the doors and couldn’t so that was a bit disappointing.

The best tour of Heidelberg

Anne and Mario were the best! Anne did her research on all the sites that we visited. She even provided photos of the evolution of the castle. Husband and wife were very flexible and accomodating too. My husband and I really appreciated the finale - a most delicious complimentary Reisling atop the hills overlooking Heidelberg.
