From Koblenz Hauptbahnhof (main train station), take a train to Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein station (€6-€9). From there, it's about a 10-minute walk to the fortress lift (free) which will take you directly to the fortress entrance. Alternatively, take bus line 1 from Koblenz Hauptbahnhof to the 'Deutsches Eck' stop. From there, walk along the Rhine to the Koblenz cable car valley station (Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer). A round-trip cable car ticket costs €13.90 for adults.

Alternatively, free coach parking is available by the former Fritsch barracks on Greiffenklaustrasse, about 800 meters before the fortress.

From April to October, take the Schängel ferry from Koblenz (Pegelhaus on Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer) across the Rhine to Ehrenbreitstein. From the ferry landing, it's a short walk to the fortress lift. A single ride on the ferry is included in the VRM public transit network. The Koblenz Card (€9.80 for 24 hours) provides free travel on public transport within the city, including the ferry and discounts on the cable car and fortress admission.
