The Halbturm, or Half Tower, in Lübeck is a captivating testament to the city's rich medieval history and architectural ingenuity. This unique structure seamlessly blends a section of the 13th-century city wall with a charming half-timbered house built in 1672. The result is an enchanting and slightly quirky building that stands as a reminder of Lübeck's past as a powerful Hanseatic city. Located on An der Mauer (On the Wall street), the Halbturm offers visitors a glimpse into the city's fortifications and the resourceful adaptation of historical structures. Its distinctive appearance and historical significance make it a must-see landmark for anyone exploring Lübeck's UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, offering a tangible connection to the city's fascinating story and enduring charm. The wonky angle of the red and white house adds to its unique appeal, making it a popular spot for photographers and history enthusiasts alike.
