Getting There

  • Public Transport

    Start your journey at any central Munich U-Bahn station, such as Marienplatz. Take the U2 line towards Messestadt Ost, and travel for 6 stops until you reach Sendlinger Tor. At Sendlinger Tor, transfer to the U1 line towards Mangfallplatz. Travel for 3 stops and get off at Sendlinger Tor. From there, take the S-Bahn S3, S4, S6, or S8 towards Erding or Leuchtenbergring. You will need to get off at the central station (Hauptbahnhof) and then switch to the RE train towards Deggendorf. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at Deggendorf, follow the signs to the Isar riverbank for a scenic walk to Isarmündung.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the many rental stations in Munich. Start from the city center and head towards the Isar river. Follow the bike paths along the riverbank which will lead you directly to Isarmündung. The ride is approximately 80 km and takes around 4 hours, so plan for a day trip. Ensure you have plenty of water and snacks for the journey.

    From Munich Hauptbahnhof (main train station), take a regional train (RE or RB) heading towards Deggendorf. The train ride takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Deggendorf, exit the station and follow the signs toward the riverbank. There is a clear path that leads to Isarmündung, a beautiful spot where the Isar river meets the Danube.
