Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards Heidelberg. From the A5 motorway, take the exit for Heidelberg/Schwetzingen (Exit 38). Follow the B37 into Heidelberg, and then follow signs for 'Heidelberger Altstadt' (Heidelberg Old Town). You can park at 'Parkhaus P12' or 'Parkhaus P9', which are both nearby. After parking, it is a short walk to the Elizabeth Gate. Exit the parking garage and head southeast on 'Plöck' road, continuing onto 'Schießgasse' until you reach the castle area. Elizabeth Gate is located near the entrance to the castle gardens.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a train to Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (main train station). From there, you can catch tram line 5 towards 'Heidelberg Schloss'. Get off at the 'Schloss' stop. From the tram stop, follow the signs to the castle entrance, which is a short uphill walk. Elizabeth Gate is located just inside the castle gardens. If you prefer, you can also walk from the train station, which is about a 20-minute walk through the Old Town.
Walking
If you are already in Heidelberg's Old Town area, you can easily walk to Elizabeth Gate. Start at the 'Marktplatz' (Market Square) and head southwest along 'Unter dem Schloss' street. Follow the path as it leads uphill towards the castle. After a short walk, you will arrive at the castle entrance where Elizabeth Gate is situated. The walk offers beautiful views of the surrounding area, so take your time and enjoy the scenery.
