Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Saxon Switzerland National Park, take the B172 road towards Dresden. Follow the signs for Dresden and merge onto the A4 motorway. After about 30 km, take the exit towards Dresden-Altstadt. Continue on B170 until you reach the city center. Follow the signs to 'Großer Garten' and park in one of the nearby parking lots, such as the parking area at Hauptallee 10. Note that parking fees may apply.

  • Public Transportation

    From Saxon Switzerland National Park, take a regional train from any nearby station (such as Bad Schandau) to Dresden Hauptbahnhof (main train station). The journey takes about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Dresden Hauptbahnhof, transfer to tram line 9 towards 'University' and get off at the 'Großer Garten' stop. The park entrance is a short walk from the tram stop, located at Hauptallee 10.

    If you are already in the city center of Dresden, you can walk to Großer Garten. Head towards the south from the Altmarkt square, crossing the Elbe River via the Augustus Bridge. Continue straight until you reach the entrance of Großer Garten at Hauptallee 10. This walk takes approximately 30-40 minutes.
