Kollenburg: A Ruined Jewel Above the Main

Kollenburg, also known locally as Ruine Kollenburg, is a captivating castle ruin situated on a hill overlooking the right bank of the Main River, near the village of Collenberg in Bavaria, Germany. For several decades, the castle served as a forester's residence before falling into disrepair. Around 1840, it was abandoned and gradually deteriorated into a ruin. Sadly, the ruin was later exploited as a stone quarry, further contributing to its decline.
