From the Marktplatz (main market square) in Miltenberg, follow the Burgweg (castle path) uphill, passing the Stadtpark and the old Jewish cemetery. Continue towards the Mildenburg castle. At the Steintor (stone gate) in the Schnatterlochschlucht (gorge), turn left uphill into the forest. Follow the signs for the Ottosteinweg (M2), which will lead you through the Felsenmeer (sea of rocks) to the Ottostein. The walk from the Marktplatz to the Ottostein takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. There are no specific costs associated with this final approach, as the trails are free to access.

Take bus line 81, 82, 83, or 977 from Miltenberg train station (Bahnhof) to the 'Miltenberg, Schwimmbad' bus stop. Turn left onto the Burgweg and follow the 'Walking' directions above to reach the Ottostein. A single bus fare costs approximately €2-3.
