Walking
Start from the Würzburg Residenz, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Exit the Residenz and head west on Residenzplatz toward Balthasar-Neumann-Promenade. Continue along the promenade until you reach the intersection with Ludwigstraße. Turn left onto Ludwigstraße and continue straight for about 500 meters. You will pass by the Hofgarten and various shops along the way. Stay on Ludwigstraße until it becomes Karmelitenstraße. Continue walking until you reach Schwanentor, which will be on your left. This picturesque old city gate is located in the Altstadt district, and you'll recognize it by its distinctive architecture.
Public Transport
If you prefer using public transport, start at the Würzburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station). From the station, take tram line 1 or line 3 toward 'Löwenbräu'. After 4 stops, get off at 'Marktplatz'. From there, walk straight on the Marktplatz until you reach the intersection with Karmelitenstraße. Turn right onto Karmelitenstraße and continue on for about 300 meters. Schwanentor will be on your right, easily identifiable as a historical landmark.
Biking
If you're biking, rent a bike from one of the local bike-sharing services available near the Residenz. Start from the Residenz and head west on Residenzplatz, then continue onto Balthasar-Neumann-Promenade. Turn left onto Ludwigstraße and cycle straight for about 500 meters. As you approach the Karmelitenstraße intersection, keep an eye out for Schwanentor on your left. The bike ride should take around 10-15 minutes, depending on your pace.
