Car
From Zugspitze, take the B2 road towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Continue on B2 for about 12 kilometers until you reach the exit for B23 towards Farchant/Schwangau. Merge onto B23 and follow it for approximately 14 kilometers. Look for signs towards Schwangau and Neuschwanstein Castle. Continue straight until you arrive at Neuschwansteinstraße. The castle will be on your right at Neuschwansteinstraße 20, 87645 Schwangau.
Public Transportation
From Zugspitze, take the Zugspitzbahn train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. At Garmisch-Partenkirchen station, transfer to the regional train towards Füssen. Get off at Schwangau station. From Schwangau station, you can take a local bus (Bus 78 or 94) that will take you directly to Neuschwanstein Castle. The bus stops at Neuschwansteinstraße, a short walk from the castle entrance.
Walking
If you're already in the Schwangau area, follow the signs to Neuschwanstein Castle from the village center. It’s about a 30-minute walk uphill from the base where the buses drop you off. The path is well-marked and offers beautiful views, so enjoy the scenery as you walk along Neuschwansteinstraße towards the castle.
