Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Apes' Den, head east along Old Queen's Road. The Royal Anglian Way trailhead is located on the left, approximately 100 meters from the Apes' Den. Follow the path for 600 meters, enjoying the views and historical sites along the way.

  • Public Transport

    Take bus route 1 to the last stop near the Moorish Castle entrance. From there, walk uphill along Queen's Road for approximately 15 minutes to reach the Apes' Den. The Royal Anglian Way trailhead is a short walk from there. A single bus fare costs around £2.50. Note that buses do not go into the Upper Rock Nature Reserve.

  • Taxi

    Hire a taxi from the city center or the frontier to take you to Apes' Den. The taxi can drop you off near the Royal Anglian Way trailhead. A taxi tour of the Upper Rock, including Apes' Den, typically costs around £90 for a 1.5-hour tour. A regular taxi fare from the airport to Apes' Den is approximately £20.
