Getting There

  • Cable Car

    The most common way to reach the Skywalk is via the Gibraltar Cable Car. The cable car base station is located near the Alameda Gardens. From the frontier, take Citibus Route 5 or 10 to Market Place and transfer to Route 2, 3, or 7, alighting at Elliott's Way. Alternatively, Routes 4 and 9 go directly to the Cable Car, stopping at Alameda House. A single bus ticket costs £1.80, or a day pass is available for £2.50. The cable car ride takes approximately 6 minutes to reach the top station. From there, it's a short, downhill walk to the Skywalk. A Nature Reserve ticket, which includes access to the Skywalk, is required.

  • Walking

    For those who prefer a physical challenge, it's possible to walk to the Skywalk via the Mediterranean Steps. This is a steep climb and requires a good level of fitness. From the town center, follow signs to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. Once inside the reserve, follow the marked trails uphill to the Skywalk. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. A Nature Reserve ticket, which includes access to the Skywalk, is required.

  • Shuttle Bus

    Shuttle buses are available to transport visitors to the summit of the Rock. These buses typically operate from the entrance to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. After reaching the Upper Rock Nature Reserve by car or bus, a local shuttle bus runs frequently to the Skywalk. The shuttle bus costs around £5 per person for a round trip.

The structure is engineered to withstand wind speeds over 150km/hour and can hold the weight of 340 people. The glass panels are made of four layers of laminated glass, each capable of supporting 600kg.Visitors can access the Skywalk via stairs or a glass elevator. Informative panels provide insights into the geology, flora, fauna, and history of the Rock. The Skywalk is part of the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, linking to other attractions like the Windsor Suspension Bridge and the Apes' Den via walking trails. The famous Barbary macaques often visit the Skywalk, adding to the experience.
