Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in the Plaka area, you can walk directly to the Remains Athens State Prison. Start from the Acropolis Museum and head southwest towards the Acropolis. Continue walking downhill until you reach Apostolou Pavlou Street. Turn right and walk for about 5-7 minutes until you reach Apostolou Pavlou 23. The prison remains are visible from the street.

• Public Transport

  From Syntagma Square, walk to the bus stop at Syntagma. Take bus number 500 towards Omonia. After approximately 10 minutes and 5 stops, get off at the stop for the Acropolis. From the bus stop, walk towards the Acropolis entrance, then head southwest on Kifissias Street. Turn right onto Apostolou Pavlou Street, and you will find the Remains Athens State Prison at Apostolou Pavlou 23. A standard ticket for public transport in Athens costs €1.20 and is valid for 90 minutes.

• Taxi

  Taxis are readily available throughout Athens, including near major tourist areas like Syntagma Square. A taxi ride from Syntagma Square to the Remains Athens State Prison typically costs around €8-€20, depending on traffic and the time of day. Keep in mind that the base fare is €1.80, with a charge of €0.90/km during the day (05:00 to 24:00) and €1.25/km at night (24:00 to 05:00). Ensure the driver sets the meter to the base fare at the beginning of the journey.
