Serenity at Transfiguration Monastery: A Spiritual Retreat in Chania

Getting There

• Bus

  From Chania's central bus station (Ktel), take a bus heading towards 'Kissamos' or 'Platanias'. Make sure to check the schedule as buses may not run frequently. Get off at the stop 'Varipetro', which is the closest stop to Transfiguration Monastery. From there, walk approximately 1 km towards the monastery following the road signs. The walk will take around 15-20 minutes.

• Walking

  If you're starting from the Old Town of Chania, head towards the main street 'Halidon' and follow it until you reach the bus station. From the bus station, follow the instructions above to catch a bus to Varipetro. Alternatively, if you prefer walking, it's about a 5 km walk which will take you approximately 1 hour. Exit the Old Town and walk towards 'Tzanakaki Street' until you find a path leading to 'Kydonias Street', and continue straight until you reach the monastery.

• Taxi

  For a more comfortable option, you can take a taxi directly from anywhere in Chania to the Transfiguration Monastery. Simply tell the driver 'Μονή Χρυσοπηγής' or provide the address: 'Μονή Χρυσοπηγής, Βαρύπετρο, Κυδωνίας, Chania 731 00'. This option will be more expensive but will save you time and effort, especially if you have luggage or are traveling in a group.
