Getting there

Bus

If you are in Heraklion, head to the central bus station, located on 1866 Street. Look for the bus to Zaros, which is usually marked with its destination on the front. The journey takes approximately 1 hour. Upon arrival in Zaros, you will get off at the main bus station. From there, walk straight along the main road for about 15 minutes until you see signs directing you to Zaros Lake (Techniti Limni Votomos). Follow the path that leads to the lake entrance.

Taxi

If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from any location in Crete. Simply ask the driver to take you to 'Techniti Limni Votomos, Zaros'. The drive from Heraklion takes about 40 minutes. Ensure the driver knows the exact location, and be prepared for a scenic drive through the Cretan countryside.

Walking

If you are staying in the village of Zaros, you can easily walk to Zaros Lake. From the village center, head east on the main road. After about 10 minutes, you will see signs for Zaros Lake. Follow these signs, and you will arrive at the lake entrance in another 5 minutes.
