Getting There

• Bus

  From Kalamata, head to the Kalamata Central Bus Station, located on 1st of May Street. You can either walk or take a short taxi ride to get there. Look for the buses heading towards Methoni. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Methoni, you will need to walk to the Side of Methoni castle. Exit the bus station and head east on Methoni's main road, following the signs towards the castle. It's about a 15-minute walk.

• Train

  Although there is no direct train service to Methoni, you can take a train from Kalamata to the nearby town of Pylos and then take a local bus or taxi to Methoni. From the Kalamata train station, board a train to Pylos. After arriving in Pylos, look for local transportation options to Methoni, which is approximately a 20-minute drive away.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Kalamata. Head towards the coastal road that leads to Methoni, following the signs. The ride is approximately 30 km and will take you about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your cycling speed. Once you reach Methoni, park your bicycle at a safe location and walk towards the castle.

• Walking

  For those who enjoy long walks, you can start from Kalamata and walk towards Methoni. This journey is approximately 30 km and will take around 6-7 hours. Start from the city center, walking south towards the coast. Follow the coastal road, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as this will be a long trek.
