Bus
From Kalambaka, take the local bus towards Plastiras Lake. You can find the bus station near the main square of Kalambaka. Ensure you check the schedule as buses may not be frequent. Once you board, enjoy the scenic ride, which will take approximately 45 minutes. Keep an eye out for signs indicating the approach to Plastiras Lake.
Hiking
If you enjoy hiking, you can trek from Kalambaka to Lake Plastiras, though it is a long journey (approximately 20 km). Start by heading north from Kalambaka, following the trail towards the village of Kastraki. From Kastraki, continue along the path that leads towards the lake, ensuring to carry enough water and snacks. The hike can take about 5-6 hours, so start early in the day.
Bicycle Rental
For a more active option, consider renting a bicycle in Kalambaka. There are several shops offering bicycle rentals. Once you have your bike, head out of Kalambaka towards the Plastiras Lake area. Follow the signs that direct you towards Plastiras, and prepare for a ride of about 15 km. The route is scenic and offers wonderful views of the surrounding mountains.
