Getting There

  • Bus

    From St. George's, take bus #2 towards Grenville. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes. Ask the driver to stop at Mt. Carmel Falls. From the bus stop, follow the signs to the falls, a 15-minute walk. Bus fare is approximately EC$3-5.

  • Taxi

    From St. George's, a taxi to Mt. Carmel Falls costs approximately EC$80-100 and takes about 45 minutes. Negotiate the fare beforehand. The taxi will drop you off near the entrance to the trail.

  • Walking

    From the center of Grenville, walk south towards the main road. Pass the Grenville Bus Terminal. Continue to the junction with the main road leading to Sauteurs. Turn left towards Mt. Carmel. Follow this road for approximately 2 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Mt. Carmel Falls. Once you reach the sign, take the path leading to the falls.

Mt. Carmel Falls, also known as Royal Mt. Carmel Falls or Marquis Falls, is Grenada's tallest waterfall, plunging an impressive 70 feet into a natural pool. Located on the eastern side of the island, near Grenville, it offers a less touristy and more secluded experience compared to other popular waterfalls. The falls are easily accessible via a short 10-20 minute walk through private plantations, showcasing Grenada's beautiful hills and valleys. The trail to the falls is relatively easy, making it suitable for families and casual hikers. Along the way, you'll be surrounded by lush greenery, tropical flowers, and the sounds of the Marquis River. The path can be muddy, especially during the rainy season, so wearing appropriate footwear like sneakers is recommended. Upon reaching Mt. Carmel Falls, you can take a refreshing dip in the cool, clear pool at its base. The more adventurous can even try sliding down the rocks into the pool, a popular activity among locals. There is also a second, lower waterfall along the same path, which is worth visiting. This lower falls also has an emerald pool. The falls are located on private property, and there may be a small entrance fee collected by the property owners.
